Glasgow Gears Up for 2023 UCI Cycling World Championshipswith Programme of Free, Family Fun for All
With the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland just 10 days away, Glasgow has today unveiled more details of its exciting citywide GO LIVE! programme. Funded by Glasgow City Council and organised by Glasgow Life, the broad range of cultural and community participation events will take place across the full 11 days of competition 3-13 August.
The GO LIVE! brand has proved a popular feature of previous major events in Glasgow. Like the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2018 European Championships the city is ensuring there are ways for everyone, whether sports fans or not, to get involved, soak up the atmosphere and have some fun.
This free programme of activity promotes cycling and wellbeing to different audiences, and encourages healthy and active lifestyles across sport, culture and the arts. It will showcase ways to get involved in cycling in the community and provide tangible opportunities for Glasgow’s citizens to connect with this world-class cycling event, with local event activity in the Northeast, Northwest, and South of the city.

Bailie Annette Christie, Chair of Glasgow Life said: “Building on the legacy of previous sporting events that also offered complementary cultural and activity-based programming, GO LIVE! gives us an opportunity to support, grow and develop cycling in our communities.
“The free performances, events, activities and ‘come and try’ elements of the programme widen the appeal of the UCI Cycling World Championships and let us host more local, community-led, events in wards across the city. In Glasgow, in addition to the official Fan Zone in George Square, we are holding family fun days at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Merchant City and at Cathkin Braes, and people can also search for local activities through the Glasgow Life website. The festival atmosphere in the city is going to be amazing and I would urge everybody to get involved.”
